Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
Yes, when I was 15 and went to my family home in Saudi Arabia. I thought it was wonderful. I made friends with a girl who lived near us. She was smart and nice and we became fast friends. I later learned that she was being abused in her home by her father and brothers because she was reading American romance novels. I knew these things existed but I had never had a friend who suffered from it firsthand. I asked my father to intervene but he knew what I did not-he could not intervene. Since then, I promised myself to always be proud to be an AMERICAN Muslim.
Have you had any unique educational experiences? I have been a religious teacher for 4 years and I have learned so much from my students while they have learned from me.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? Yes, I have committed to volunteering from the age of 12, as a young volunteer at mosque serving Christmas dinners to the homeless. The best experience was reading to pre-school children, who were just so sweet. The innocence of a child learning is so wonderful-I loved it.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I would want to go to the following Third World countries and provide them with vaccines and books and nutrition: Cambodia, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Tajikstan, South American, Sudan. I’m not merely saying this because it’s a “good” thing to say but because I know that is what I truly want to do. |
What is your philosophy on life? If you can help one person in your life and make a difference, your time on earth is completely worth it.
How did you come to have this philosophy on life? Just the joy of life and being in love and wanting to help as much as I can.
What is your ultimate goal and ambition in life? To get my degrees and help the world as much as is in my power.
How do you plan on achieving this goal? With the blessing of God, the support of my family, and my willingness to do as much in my power to push myself to achieve my ambition and goals.
Why do you want to be an egg donor? Ever since I had heard of it in my Health class as a young teen, I thought it was something wonderful that would help people. I had wanted to do it ever since, but knew that my age would restrict me, but now I hope it would not. There are people who have children and they are not the greatest parents and there are children born to families who give them nothing but neglect and abuse. If there is a family who wishes for a child but cannot have one, and in some way I can help them become a family by doing this, I will be more than willing to take a needle in my stomach every day for a weeks and go through all of the other requirements-no problem.
What do you think egg donation means to potential recipients? It means that they have hope for the wonderful joy of becoming parents. They can see their family complete.
What are your thoughts on egg donation as a fertility option? I think it is a wonderful option for couples to help create a family for themselves.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself that we haven’t asked? I hope that I am accepted and become matched with a couple. I wish to help. |
