Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
I have been to Israel and I found the experience of seeing the cradle of civilization so amazing. The age and the amount of culture and human life that has permeated that region is beyond understanding. It was also very interesting to see the interactions of the conflicting cultures of the area and how they make a normal way of life in what most people would consider a highly dangerous and unstable area.
Have you had any unique educational experiences? Most of my elementary education was spent in a gifted program that taught very hands on and in an imaginative way. It forced me to work several levels above what was traditionally expected of my age group. It made me grow so much and enhanced my ability to learn in a way that shaped my education forever.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? I volunteered and ran a Planned Parenthood Student Group at my college. It was great to support an organization that I have a passion for and one that I find does great things for women (and men) and their communities.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I would spend it creating in some way. Maybe I would spend the year developing a product line that I could create in my own space and it would bridge the space between functional product and a small piece of hand-made art. I would also love to spend that time creating art that works in traditionally folk/effeminate mediums (such as quilting or embroidery) but executed in a distinctively modern way. |
