Describe your personality and character: I am very outgoing, friendly, honest, hardworking, trustworthy and a lot of fun because life is too short to be boring and not live it to its fullest potential.
How do you think others would describe you? I think they would describe me as caring because I put those that I love or care about before myself. Also, I would say spontaneous and creative because I am always coming up with fun new things to do and funny because I can always do silly things to make people laugh when they are having a bad day.
What would you say is your strongest personal trait and why? Honesty, because that’s the way I was brought up and I feel it is an important quality to live every day by.
What is your favorite sport? I love most sports but my favorite to play would be a toss up between volleyball and softball. My favorite to watch would be basketball.
Describe your own athletic ability/skills: I am extremely athletic; playing sports comes very easy to me. I played three varsity sports in high school and was captain of two of them and MVP and leader in softball. Deciding not to play in college so that I could focus on my classes was an extremely hard thing to do.
What is your favorite type of music? That’s a trick y question because it depends on my mood. I like rock, country, and hip hop.
Why is this your favorite type of music? I like all three because they are so different. I listen to whatever I think sounds good-it doesn’t have to be a certain genre for me to enjoy it. I run and dance to hip hop, I’m a country girl in the summer because it just puts me in a great mood and I can listen to rock “whenever” because every song is so different and I love the sound and meaning behind the lyrics.
Describe your own musical abilities/skills: The only instrument I have tried to play is the guitar and I was a pretty quick learner. I really enjoyed it. One thing I know that I will never be great at, even though I love music, is singing. My grandmother has great singing abilities though.
Describe any other special talents, skills, hobbies or interests you may have: Besides drawing and sports, I would say I am good with kids. Some people wouldn’t consider this a skill but having the patience and love to deal with them is not something everyone has.
What is your favorite book? I have a lot of books I would call favorites, but my all time favorite would be the Harry Potter series or Pride and Prejudice.
Why? I favor these books because they are so different from real life and it is nice to imagine life how it is portrayed in the books. Also, they are just so hard to put down, which I also love about them!
What is your favorite movie? Christmas Vacation
Why? Not only is this movie hilarious, it is a tradition to watch. My family watched this movie every Christmas Eve since I can remember, so it brings back all those memories which always makes me smile.
Describe your own artistic abilities/skills: I took art classes all through high school and it’s something I enjoy doing and am quite good at. I usually work in pencil because it is my favorite but I can and have worked in just about every other medium. I also love photography. I plan on minoring in it and it’s a big hobby of mine and is a lot of fun!
Do you speak any foreign languages? Spanish, Japanese
Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
I did a missions project-we went to the Appalachian Mountains and helped build houses for the poor. Being there opened my eyes to the struggles some people go through in life and it made me want to help those who need it. After this trip was when I started to donate more time to different charities and it made me realize that I want to start my own.
Have you had any unique educational experiences? I don’t know if this situation is what you might be asking about, but I tutored two autistic boys and it taught me a lot about patience and showed me how much I love to help. Because of this experience, I like to help others understand what people with disabilities such as autism go through day to day because most people don’t understand and they take what they have been given for granted. Helping them was a great experience-I think all teenagers should help out in a way like that because it is a great learning process and extremely beneficial for everyone involved.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? While working with Big Brothers/Big Sisters I got to see my little brother change for the better. When I first started the program I was told that we could make a huge difference in a child’s life, which I believed to some extent. Over the course of a year, my little brother was not getting into trouble anymore and his grades had dramatically improved. The relationship we had had was just what he needed because he didn’t have anything like it at home.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I would use all the money to get my charity up and running and try to expand it and get it well known. If this was all I had to worry about for an entire year, I would be in heaven because I could devote all my time to helping so many more people. |
