Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life?
One summer I went to the poorer areas of Mexico on a mission trip. It was very eye opening yet heart warming for me. It really made me thankful for all that I have here in the States and I try not to take anything for granted. I want to make helping others a priority in my life. What I see as useless could mean the world to someone else and lending a hand can make the biggest difference in one’s life.

Have you had any unique educational experiences? I pretty much attended public schools all of my life except when I was in preschool. Preschool, as long ago as it was, was a very fun time for me. I remember being the life of the party. I made people laugh and genuinely happy. I was voted best dancer and most ambitious during my time there.

Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and it was one of the best jobs I have ever had. Even though it was a lot of dirty work such as washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning the cages, it was also very rewarding. I love to work with animals and it is much more fruitful when they are animals in need.

If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do?
I would definitely use it to open a school in a third world, poverty-stricken country. I believe that a lack of an education is a big part of why many people stay in poverty as they grow up. Something as simple as an education can change the way they see and live life. I would want to help those who are not in the position to help themselves and be able to give them something that is life-lasting, and I believe that education is just that.

Philosophies and Thoughts

What is your philosophy on life? My philosophy in life is that God created all things. He has given us the freedom to choose for ourselves, but He will be there for us as we make our decisions. When it comes to people, I believe that people are generally good but it is the world that corrupts them. I also believe in second chances, love, and recycling.

How did you come to have this philosophy on life? I was born into a Christian family but began to have my own relationship with the Lord around the time I was in the 9th grade. My parents were a big influence in that category and still are today. Also, I am a generally optimistic person and I believe in the good in people.

What is your ultimate goal and ambition in life? My ultimate goal in life is to be able to help those who are not able to help themselves, animals and humans alike. Career wise, I would love to become a veterinarian and help those who cannot speak for themselves, but for life itself. I want to make an impact in somebody’s life.

How do you plan on achieving this goal? After I receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering, I plan on attending veterinarian school somewhere in California. As for helping others, I want to start an organization at church that reaches out to other people, for whatever the reason may be.

Why do you want to be an egg donor? I want to be an egg donor because being Korean and Christian means that I come from a very strict background. Most Koreans and Christians will look down on this type of thing, almost as if it were taboo. I know that many people may come from similar situations where they feel like they cannot turn to this option because of what other people might think. I want to be here for those people and help make their dreams of having a child come true.

What do you think egg donation means to potential recipients? Wanting a child of my own in the future, I know just how much other people look forward to it. Not being able to conceive must be terribly difficult and I want to help comfort them by giving them what they don’t have.

What are your thoughts on egg donation as a fertility option? I think it is amazing. People should be given the chance to have a child even when it may not be physically possible for them and I think this does just that.
