Have you had any unique travel experiences that you feel have helped shape your way of thinking and/or the way you live your life? Living and studying abroad in London for three months definitely changed my life. I learned to view the world from a different country and culture. I learned that every person in the world has a different perspective and their own unique experiences. I Iearned to appreciate the differences in other people, countries and cultures. I learned the significance of history and of timeless traditions. The experience of living in London for three months was priceless.
Have you had any unique educational experiences? I believe that my college experience was unique in itself and it was also extremely valuable. I grew up in a very small town with little diversity. I chose to broaden my horizons and attend a college that was located in the heart of a major U.S. city. I loved the big city life! I loved meeting all types of people from all over the world and learning with them on a daily basis. It was refreshing that my classroom was full of people with a different background and outlook on life than my own. I learned a great deal from living and going to school in such a big and diverse city. It was fast paced and corporate, and a welcome change of pace from the small town I grew up in. I now appreciate both lifestyles and I have landed somewhere in the middle.
Have you had any unique experiences with volunteer work? I have participated in the Race for the Cure to help raise money for breast cancer. My best friend’s mother was diagnoses with breast cancer 10 years ago and I watched her and her family go through the daily struggles and I witnessed her fight for survival. They remained so strong and optimistic and it was extremely inspirational. Her mother decided to help other women beat breast cancer just as she did. She sought out a trainer and created a work out vide especially for women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. By staying active and healthy, your chances of survival significantly increase. As a Communications major, I had a good bit of knowledge and experience with promotions and public relations, so I assisted her in promoting and selling the videos to major vendors across the nation. I am very proud to have played such a large part in her dream to help others overcome something so great.
If you were given enough funds to spend one year of your life to engage in any recreational, political, religious/spiritual, or other endeavor of particular importance to you, what would you choose to do? I think that if I had enough funds for one year of life that I would set out to help needy children of all types. I would commit both my time and money to worthy causes. This would include adoption centers, homeless shelters, and services for abused and neglected children. As a mother, this would be very important to me. Children are precious. They deserve the best chance at life. They come into this world innocent, unbiased, and unharmed. I hate that there are children out there suffering. I would love to spend a year of my life bringing smiles to the faces of children and helping them to have a better and happier life. |
